OMAE Gallery is pleased to present The Labyrinth of Origin, a solo exhibition by SEOSY (世悟示), as the opening show of the spring season.
Renowned for her reinterpretation of traditional gold leaf aesthetics in contemporary form, SEOSY is the ‘sub-character’ introduced in 2024 by the well-known Korean painter Suyeong Seo, celebrated for her vivid color paintings.

Suyeong Seo has held over 30 solo exhibitions both domestically and internationally, primarily working in figurative painting with a strong focus on Korean traditional aesthetics and motifs. In contrast, her alter ego SEOSY explores abstraction through the medium of gold leaf. As implied
by the name SEOSY (世悟示)—meaning “one who reveals spiritual enlightenment to the world”—her practice is driven by philosophical inquiry, questioning: “What is origin, essence, and root?”
Having completed a doctoral program specializing in traditional coloring (particularly gold leaf), SEOSY demonstrates deep expertise in reinterpreting classical forms in a contemporary visual language.

The Labyrinth of Origin features more than 30 works, including both paintings and installations that uniquely reimagine the gold leaf technique.
A large sculptural piece symbolizing the ‘infinite cycle of life’ is suspended from the ceiling on the gallery’s first floor, while the lower level showcases over 20 works of varying scale, including several monumental pieces over three meters in size. Meditative, serene, and resonant, SEOSY’s works convey a subtle but profound emotional depth.
We are honored to invite you to SEOSY’s first solo exhibition in Korea, presented between her two bases: Seoul and Los Angeles.
